Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is the leading national mentoring organization working with more than 23,000 children and youth. It has 150 member agencies working in more than 1,000 Canadian communities. Research has shown that children with mentors go to school more often, are more likely to graduate, get along better in their community and are less likely to begin using drugs and alcohol. Currently there are thousands of children on member agency waiting lists for mentors. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and its member agencies has a goal of having 100,000 children matched with mentors by 2013.
