Canadian Red Cross
Type: Disaster Relief
The Canadian Red Cross helps people in neighbourhoods across Canada and around the world. Many Canadians first encounter the Red Cross at their local beach or swimming pool but we work in many other areas to help people, including:
helping people affected by conflict, war and disasters around the world by fundraising, sending trained humanitarian workers to the affected areas, reconnecting families and undertaking longer term reconstruction and health programs.
teaching over one million Canadians to swim each year through our water safety programs.
providing over 600,000 people each year with confidence and skills to help people in an emergency through first aid and CPR training.
assisting people affected by emergencies ranging from a house fire to a flood that disrupts entire communities to provide for people's basic needs—food, shelter, clothing, first aid, emotional support and family reunification.
teaching violence and abuse prevention to youth through our RespectED program to break the cycle of abuse, promote understanding and prevention of harassment and violence.
providing a wide range of community-based services to help the frail or elderly, children at risk, people with disabilities or palliative patients.
The Red Cross is one of the world’s most respected symbols. It is a symbol of protection, hope, and assistance. Thank you for your support of Canadian Red Cross.
