Approximately 90% of all casualties in armed conflict are civilians and more than half of these are children. In the last decade at least 2 million children have been killed as a result of conflict and a further 4 million disabled.
War Child Canada is a registered charity that provides timely, effective and sustainable support to thousands of children and their families in conflict and post-conflict communities.
Working with local partners, War Child Canada implements programs that focus on education, HIV/AIDS, psychosocial rehabilitation, child rights, health, vocational training and material needs.
War Child Canada has humanitarian programs in Afghanistan, Iraq, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, northern Uganda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Sudan (south Sudan and Darfur regions), Georgia, Ghana (Liberian refugees), and Colombia.
